Choose the Good Part
“And Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.’” Luke 10:41-42 NKJV
We all know the story of Martha and Mary. How Jesus had come to their home and Martha was so overcome with the task at hand of serving she became upset because Mary, her sister, did not offer any assistance yet chose to sit at the feet of Jesus. We are quick to see Martha’s failure to realize her missed opportunity, the very Son of God, The Savior was in her home and she was too busy to spend any time with Him. Yet we all at times are so caught up in our own life, we too fail to spend time with our Savior.
We are the temple, the very dwelling place of God (John 14:23) but we neglect spending time with Him, in studying of His Word, having conversation with Him, giving thanks to Him, and in prayer. He is with us but we are not “with” Him. We find ourselves struggling to deal with the everyday issues which, if allowed, will draw us away from spending time with Him, our time sitting at His feet just like Mary, listening, talking, and learning of Him.
Be aware of this struggle of the flesh and the Spirit, choose the good part, time with Jesus. He is waiting for you.
