The Love of God
We live in a world which only portrays love in the flesh. But God is Love (1 John 4:8), He simply doesn’t just love us, but this is who He is. We look at ourselves and wonder just how God could love us. We often see our mistakes our failures and cannot find love even for ourselves and fail to see the love of God which is constantly reaching for us even in the worst times of our lives.
Let me show you just one example written in the Bible of just how much God loves us and how He sees us. Go with me to Song of Solomon 4:1-7 KJV
“Behold, thou art fair, my love; Behold, thou art fair; Thou hast doves’ eyes within thy locks: Thy hair is as a flock of goats, that appear from mount Gilead. Thy teeth are like a flock of sheep that are even shorn, which came up from the washing; Whereof every one bear twins, and none is barren among them. Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely: Thy temples are like a piece of a pomegranate within thy locks. Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men. Thy two breasts are like two young roes that are twins, which feed among the lilies. Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, I will get me to the mountain of myrrh, And to the hill of frankincense. Thou art all fair, my love; There is no spot in thee.”
Notice how we are addressed, fair, my love, meaning beautiful, handsome, fitting, you are perfect in all your ways He also claims you as the one He loves. He sees the doves in your eyes which to me represent His Holy Spirit dwelling with you, a reflection of Him, holy and righteous. Your hair shines brightly as the helmet of salvation shining bright because of the Savior who died for us. Your teeth are clean and even meaning you have joy, peace, and strength radiating from your face, which comes from the Holy Spirit dwelling within. You speak with wisdom. Your face has the color of one very much alive. Your neck is strong like a tower, never hang your head low for you are as strong as the mightiest man. Your breasts represent the breast plate of righteousness the two covenants of God, which provide freedom from sin and right standing with God. The writer then reminds us just how much we are loved for He goes to the mountains of myrrh and the hill of frankincense which represent His dying love for us. Both spices are used for burial which is just what Jesus did for us. Again, He confirms we are fair and His love.
Our enemy, Satan, will remind you of all you are not but remember just how God sees you.
